Gamma-Kappa Alumni Newsletter - Summer 2025

As we head into Fall 2025, our chapter is building on a strong spring semester that included  growth in recruitment, academics, philanthropy, and social events. The work we put in over the past several months has put us in a great position for the upcoming fall as we continue to build a chapter defined by leadership, service, and growth.

Recruitment is a major focus this summer, and we’ve worked hard to connect with potential new members through a wide range of events. We are currently hosting Rush events across Dallas, Houston, and Norman — including three in different areas of Dallas and two in Houston. We’re also holding summer events in Norman, with interest and attendance from rushees traveling in from OKC, Dallas, and Houston. Our members have shown strong commitment throughout the summer, making sure each event is well-represented and that rushees get a true picture of wha our chapter is about.

Academic and professional development continues to be a priority for our chapter. The Fall 2024 new member class earned the highest average GPA we’ve seen in over eight years, marking a major step forward for our academic goals. We are continuing structured academic mentorship by upperclassmen to new members, tailored to specific majors and supported b shared resources. We’re also helping new members get involved in academic clubs and organizations across campus to better prepare them for what’s ahead. On the professional side, we’re continuing to host chapter-wide sessions on resume building, LinkedIn setup, and internship planning — along with career fair prep and guidance on application timelines. We’re also leveraging our connections with alumni, professors, and local professionals to bring guest speakers to the chapter house and give our members direct exposure to real-world experience and mentorship.

One of the most memorable events of the semester was our partnership with the Oklahoma City Thunder during their historic championship season. We hosted a Kappa Sigma basketball tournament at Paycom Center, with chapters from OU, OSU, OCU, and NSU participating. I was a great experience that brought guys together from across the state.

This fall, we’re continuing several successful philanthropy efforts from last year, including our Pets for Vets / Puppies and Pickleball fundraiser in collaboration with the Norman Animal Shelter and a chapter-hosted car wash, both supporting the Military Heroes Campaign. In addition to these events, we’re expanding our outreach by developing relationships with organizations such as Comeback Kid Society, Big Brothers of Oklahoma, Veterans Corner, an Kiwanis, with the goal of increasing our involvement in the Norman community.

This past spring marked the most successful semester for our social events in chapter history. By leveraging strong local partnerships and consistent involvement from our members, we were able to host events with record turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback. In April, we brought our entire chapter to Austin, Texas, for Spring Formal, which was a standout experience that capped off the semester. Looking ahead, we’ve already fully planned many social events for the fall, including a Bid Day concert and our Fall Formal, which will take place in Dallas during the Red River Rivalry weekend as we take the chapter on the road once again. With football season on the horizon, we’re preparing for a full lineup of tailgates this fall, featuring live music and food. We look forward to having alumni and families join us. Additionally, we’ll take part in Homecoming with a rock and roll theme, featuring ABBA as our band. Our freshmen will join Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Chi for Rah Rally, and we’re participating in the float competition again as we look to build on last year’s first-place finish.

We’re grateful for your continued support and look forward to what’s ahead for Gamma-Kappa.

The recent and upcoming success of our fraternity is only possible thanks to the ongoing support of our strong network of alumni, parents, families, local partners, and connections throughout Norman and the university. We’re proud of the direction we’re headed into this fall, and please feel free to reach out to chapter leadership with any questions you may have.

Thank you for the continued support,
